Cub Scout camp

Troop 3 at cub scout camp

waiting for the skits and awards ceremony

and he's up for his role in the skit

watching big brother - in need of a distraction (in this case food)

Harry's only opportunity for camp this year fell in the week after we came home from our "big trip".  I think the poor guy was suffering from jet lag the first few days and then he caught a cold on top of that, but despite these things he seemed to enjoy himself.  When questioned he said he liked camp well enough.  During the week he went off happily enough and came home relatively happy too.  Next year he will be a boy scout (if he chooses to continue on with scouting) and so this was his last cub scout camp.

Harry is about to enter 5th grade which is middle school on our little island.  They do keep the 5th grade in a different part of the building and although they move classes some, they are mostly in one classroom.  Hopefully it will be a good experience.  We went and met his new teacher this week and took a look at his classroom.  I think that was as much for me as for him.  He has had a good summer, but I he has also craved company of his own age.  This is a good thing and we did our best to try to arrange time with friends when we are around.  We also have tried to have lots of time together since Kevin is home on sabbatical and this is a truly unusual time in their childhood to have both Mom and Dad around all day for a few months.
