So the last week of vacation didn't go entirely as planned, but it was a decent week. We began the week with a diocesan clergy gathering. It was billed as a family gathering and it was, but there aren't that many clergy with small children and so there weren't that many children. As I have mentioned (umpteen) times before, I am an introvert. If you put me in a group with lots of unfamiliar faces, it exhausts and stresses me. Then add that I have my children along to entertain (and to try to keep happy when they wait for a much later than usual lunch time) and it isn't always the best of events. However, I did get to speak with a few people and I think Kevin got to check in with his colleagues after being away for a few months. I would count it as a success for those reasons. As far as the boys and I go, it wasn't our favorite outing of the week.
The next day we went on a picnic at Beavertail. It was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed ourselves. We ate a simple meal, did a little reading and a little playing. Then we climbed on the rocks and after a couple hours headed home. At some point Robert said it was the best picnic ever! I don't know if I'd go that far, but we really enjoyed ourselves and it was our last Sunday away from church because next week, Kevin will be back at work preaching and we will all be back in the pews.
On Monday we went to the Museum of Science in Boston and that was great. Kevin went to the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit and the boys and I say a film in the Omni Theater. In our normal manner we got to the MoS at lunchtime so we started with lunch and then went to the exhibit hall for a while. Finally on the way home we stopped for dinner and then for frozen yoghurt. It was a good day.
I wrote about Tuesday. It was a sick day for Harry and a day that Grampy visited. A mixed bag. On Wednesday Harry was basically better, but still shy about eating much. Once we were sure he felt mostly like himself we ventured out for haircuts and a shopping spree for the boys at 5 Below. Thursday was Harry's first day of school and I will post on that separately. So for now here are pictures.

I took the boys for a wander on the rocks - here they are sitting, but they move quickly and fearlessly and give me little heart attacks every few minutes :-) |
